There is sadly a dearth of late night eats in Vancouver. However, there is a fantastic 24 hour vegetarian restaurant called The Naam in Kitsilano that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Funnily enough I ate at Naam on a Sunday afternoon.
We started off with the Milano quesadilla platter and the Mediterranean appetizer plate. The quesadilla was warm, cheesey goodness with veggies & sundried tomatoes, accompanied by salsa, a salad with miso dressing and fries. The fries were lovely, large potato wedges and the miso dressing added a refreshing twist to the dish.
The Mediterranean platter consisted of vegetables, artichoke dip, olives, feta and pita. Even though I have an intense dislike of olives, I’d order this platter again just for the creamy, flavourful artichoke dip.
Sadly, we did not listen to our fabulous server who warned us about the portion sizes. After the appetizers, we each had a main course (which found its way into take away containers and made a great lunch). I ordered the Crying Tiger Thai Stir Fry – a delight of vegetables, brown rice, potatoes and tofu in a coconut curry sauce. This was the never ending dish of goodness – the more I ate, the more the food seemed to reappear. I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part!
I will definitely return to Naam (aka Nom) to sample more of their nommy treats! Naam is located at 2724 West 4th in Vancouver (http://www.thenaam.com/naam/)
